Medium-height plants give a ‘layered’ affect making the landscape more interesting! Plant these in front of Background plants.
Middleground: Middleground plants are medium height plants that can be used in front of Background plants, and behind smaller-growing foreground plants. We are classifying Middleground plants as typically ranging from 2 to 4 feet in height. These plants help create the middle layer in the garden. Having a ‘layered’ affect creates interest in the landscape. Mid-height plants can have many different characteristics, ranging from flowering, scented, strap-leaf, or grassy.
