Purple Wandering Jew is a dense and somewhat aggressive ground cover that can cover quickly and efficiently. It's fairly drought tolerant and ahs an attractive deep purple foliage. Small light pink/ purplish flowers appear in Summer. Folks up near foothills should use this on slopes as it's pretty deer resistant. Plant in full sun for the best foliage color. Tradescantia can be used in many types of design settings but looks most at home in a tropical themed landscape. Use as an understory to palms and cycads. Also can be used in hanging baskets and will spill over creating a whimsical look. Will potentially die back to the ground in a frost so make sure to protect it with weed fabric on cold nights. Hardy to 25 deg. F. Native to Mexico.
