A large prolific rusty red colored grass which produces fuzzy elongated flower atop a long stem in Summer/ Fall. Very easy to grow. Cut back once or twice a year to keep foliage coming back nice and tight. Red Fountain Grass is used as an annual in colder climates but in Southern California can last several seasons as a perennial. If blooms are left on, plant will re-seed. Pennisetum grows fast and can tolerate poor soils and drought making it desirable for the gardener with a brown thumb but still wishes to have ornamental grasses. For a slightly smaller variety, look at Pennisetum 'Fireworks' as an alternative cultivar. Best in USDA Zones 9-10.
