Dwarf Myrtle

Myrtus communis 'Compacta'

Perfect compact plant for a small hedge or barrier.  Tight dense growth with small ovate leaves makes the Dwarf Myrtle an idea candidate to formally trim.  Plant produces small black berries but are rarely seen when regularly pruned.  Drought tolerant once established.  Makes a nice alternative to the Japanese Boxwood so commonly used. Plant in full sin or part shade.  Small white blooms appear in Summer if left un-pruned.  Deer resistant, seacoast tolerant, drought tolerant, and shade tolerant... quite a useful little woody shrub.
